Future of Learning Southeast Asia Conference 2024

Nurulfajar is currently Associate Professor at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. Previously, he administratively works as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs), UTeM (2018-2021), Dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Engineering (FKEKK) at UTeM (2015-2018), Deputy Dean (Academics) (2014-2015) and Head of Machine Learning and Signal Processing (MLSP) research group under the Centre for Telecommunication Research & Innovation (CeTRI). His research interests are 3D image processing, stereo vision and video processing.

He serves as a faculty member of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Engineering (FKEKK), UTeM. He earned a Master of Electrical Engineering in image processing (2002, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (2000, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia). He obtained his PhD (Image and Video Processing) at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2012.

At present, he teaches various electronics engineering subjects and courses in his affiliation for undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His subjects include Data Structures and Algorithms, Digital Image Processing, Advanced Digital Signal Processing, Computer Vision and Pattern Recognitions, Multimedia Technology & Applications and Distributed & High Performance Computing. He was invited to Hochschule Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Germany in 2017 to teach Advanced Digital Signal Processing under Erasmus+ Program. He supervised more than 150 undergraduate & postgraduate students for their PhD, Master and Final Year Projects.

He was recognized by Apple Inc. as one of the Apple Professional Development (APD) from 2014. And received Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) Class 2017. He is currently recognized as Apple Professional Learning Specialist (APLS). He awarded with Anugerah Pengajaran (Teaching Award) for Anugerah Akademik Universiti (UTeM) 2024. And also one of the recipient Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang 2017 & 2004 and Anugerah Inovasi e-Pembelajaran, Anugerah Akademik Universiti 2017. His work also received recognition and medals such as First Runner Up in Malaysia Olah Corak Competition 2024 by Yayasan Hasanah and Ruzz Gahara, Gold in e- Learning Carnival (2017), Silvers at National University Carnival on e-Learning (2015) and Expo Penyelidikan dan Inovasi (UTeMEX, 2015), also several awards in Innovation and Technology Competition (INOTEK). He actively involved in research works related with stereo computer vision, virtual and augmented reality. He also invited as consultant and professional trainer with STDC Shah Alam, Bina Bangsa School Indonesia, UMK, UKM, INTEC and MRSM.
