Future of Learning Southeast Asia Conference 2024

Podcasting and vlogging continue to be powerful ways to provide students with opportunities to engage their voice and creativity. This session will provide educators with ideas of for using podcasting in their lessons from how to organize a project to what tools to use to produce the episodes. The specific tools supported will be GarageBand and iMovie.

My session will explore how digital activities facilitate an enquiry curriculum in the primary setting. I will focus on using the iPad and the Apple suite of apps to promote metacognition, pupil independence and creativity using a range of lesson activity ideas and templates to share.

We will explore the concept of empowering creativity in your classroom using 2D and 3D design. We will discuss the benefits of incorporating design projects into your curriculum, such as fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, promoting collaboration and communication, and encouraging innovative thinking. Through practical examples and hands-on activities, you will learn how to effectively integrate design tools and software into your teaching strategies, enabling your students to unleash their creativity and create meaningful projects. Having transitioned from being an Early Years teacher to a Computing Lead, I've seen firsthand the remarkable impact of integrating technology into early learning. In this session, I'm excited to showcase examples of simplified 'Everyone Can Create' projects that can enhance the learning experiences for young learners. Technology can significantly impact various areas of learning such as oracy, and tools like Keynote are especially versatile, opening up new realms of educational possibilities and creativity.

The session focuses on innovative teaching strategies through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) using numbers to engage diverse learners. The main themes include:

1. Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The session emphasizes the importance of addressing the unique needs of every learner, catering to different educational backgrounds, attention spans, interests, language abilities, and cultural contexts 
2. Engagement through Creative Methods: Participants explore how to make data-driven learning more interactive by using visually appealing templates and customizable formats, such as incorporating min-maps, quiz, storyboarding, gamification to cater to diverse audiences. 
3. Interactive Learning Tools: Teachers are encouraged to provide multiple modes of expression, allowing students to present their learning in various ways, such as writing, audio explanations, digital stories, and quizzes. 
4. Hands-on Activities: The sessions involve practical activities where educators can create simple yet effective lessons using conditional formatting, drawing tools, and custom worksheets to engage learners at all levels. A practical session invites participants to create numbers-based activities for teaching history. 

The session aims to develop future training sessions that integrate UDL with creative engagement techniques to empower educators in fostering diverse learning environments.
