I have always been astonished by how people can create beautiful and functional notes on iPads. The real benefit of visual notes lies in their ability to reinforce learning, encourage creativity, and help in encoding and decoding large amounts of text. They push students to think critically and creatively while encoding their notes. As both a teacher and a learner, I am continually amazed by the advantages visual note-taking can bring to the classroom. When I first explored workshops and books on this topic, I found the abundance of jargon and detailed instructions intimidating. My initial thought was, "I'm not an artist; I might not be able to do this." However, I couldn't let this idea die. The potential benefits gave me hope, so I pursued it further and discovered that it's actually quite an easy task. I realized that people often overcomplicate it unnecessarily. This session is designed for our school teachers and students to share the simplicity and effectiveness of visual note-taking. We've already seen great results using Freeform, and I am excited to demonstrate how note-taking can transform learning and help students express themselves.
Objectives: Understand the benefits of visual note-taking for reinforcing learning and enhancing creativity. Learn practical techniques for creating visually engaging and informative notes using the iPad. Explore the use of Freeform and other apps to simplify the note-taking process. Develop confidence in creating and using visual notes to express ideas and knowledge creatively.
