DREAMS in Motion: Robotics and Early Coding for Tiny Techies
Sunday November 24, 2024 9:45am - 10:35am GMT+08
In this hands-on workshop, Emily Jones (Apple Distinguished Educator) and Preeti Williams (Apple Learning Coach) will explore how our littlest learners can engage with the exciting world of robotics and early coding. Using fun, interactive robots such as Indi and Dash, alongside beginner-friendly coding apps, we will dive into fundamental coding concepts such as sequencing, selection and repetition. The session will demonstrate how play-based learning and technology can empower even the youngest minds to understand and apply computational thinking in a tangible way. Through a series of engaging activities, participants will discover practical ways to incorporate robotics into early education, helping young children explore problem-solving, creativity and collaboration. Suitable for teachers responsible for educating 3-7 year olds.

Thinking Outside the Box: Getting Creative with Greenscreen
Sunday November 24, 2024 10:50am - 11:40am GMT+08
In this workshop, participants will be invited to think outside the box when using chroma key in lessons. We will go beyond simple background substitution and get creative by combining tools within apps such as Keynote and iMovie. Practical examples of innovative greenscreen use across an elementary school curriculum will be explored and then we will get creative with a hands-on workshop. Participants will be guided through the process of creating a ‘Magic Box’ project (based on the poem by Kit Wright) by using the chroma key function within iMovie. The final outcome will be a video of a magic box which has different compartments. When each compartment is opened, a different video, with corresponding sound effects, will play. Participants will need to bring iPads to the session with the latest versions of iMovie and Keynote installed.
